Joan Baez Biography

Joan Chandos Baez has traveled numerous places in USA and UK because of her father's work in healthcare and with UNESCO. She was raised by her parents along with her siblings Mimi Farina and Pauline Baez. She attended Palo Alto High School where she graduated in 1958.        

Baez started her recording career in 1960 and released her first three albums , which received gold medal status. She has also released numerous songs including "Farewell, Angelina", "Forever Young","Joe Hill", "Love Is Just a Four-Letter Word", "Sweet Sir Galahad", and "We Shall Overcome". 

During the 1969 Woodstock Festival, Baez performed fourteen songs and displayed a lifelong commitment to political and social activism in the fields of nonviolence, civil rights, human rights and the environment. She has also worked with numerous songs writer, and recording artists including Bob Dylan,   Leonard Cohen, Jackson Browne, Violeta Parra, Woody Guthrie, Paul Simon, Pete Seeger, Stevie Wonder, and rock bands like and . 

Baez is the winner of Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award for her outstanding performance as a recording artist and singer. Moreover, to her tribute, The Joan Baez Award for Outstanding Inspirational Service in the Global Fight for Human Rights was inaugurated by The Amnesty International in 2011. The award was first presented to Joan Baez in recognition of her human rights work.

Baez is an American by nationality and belongs to white ethnicity. She was married to her longtime boyfriend David Harris, a journalist, and anti-war activist. The couple is blessed with a son, Gabriel who is a drummer. However, Baez was unable to continue their married life with her husband and divorced him. Previously, she had an affair with Bob Dylan and Michael New.  

Most of Baez income comes from her profession as American folk singer, musician, songwriter, and activist. She has released numerous albums and songs from which she must have collected a huge amount of money. According to some source, her net worth is estimated to be $14 million.
