He is a native of Bristol, England.
Initially, James started off as a model in April 1994 in Milan. It was a fashion scout for Calvin French who spotted him. From there, James went to be featured in several commercials.
After having been featured in a string of commercials, he made his debut TV show appearance as Rory ‘Finn’ Finnigan in Hollyoaks: Movin’ On in 2001.
As a result of having been asked to leave SMTV Live where he worked as a presenter for 3 months, James went on a hiatus as he lost his confidence only to return in 2003, to star as Jason Murdoch in Mile High.
Some of his most notable television credits include Casualty (2003–08, 2016), Soccer AM (2003–08), Celebrity Come Dine With Me (2010), Total Wipeout Celebrity Special (2011), Hollyoaks Later (2013), Emmerdale (2014), Coronation Street (2015), and The Coroner (2016).
