Yesterday, Page Six and The Daily Mail published photos of Tim Burton kissing/canoodling with a mystery blonde. Tim has been with Helena Bonham Carter for 12 years – they have two children together, they are constant collaborators and they live in adjoining houses to raise their kids. They are together, even though their “togetherness” isn’t quite as conventional as a traditional marriage or whatever. So, did those photos show Tim Burton cheating on Helena? Or was it all some huge misunderstanding? Helena spoke out to defend Tim, although… I’m not sure if this really did her any good.
Helena Bonham Carter has hit out at claims her long-term partner Tim Burton ‘cheated’ on her after he was photographed appearing to kiss a mystery blonde. The actress, 47, described speculation as ‘absolute nonsense’, insisting Tim and the blonde were among a group of family members and friends.
Her spokesperson told the Daily Express: ‘This is absolute nonsense, the pictures were taken whilst they were out and the large group includes family, friends and work colleagues.’
The denial came after the King’s Speech star was pictured looking tired as she emerged from a friend’s car in North London, on Thursday afternoon, hours after the photographs of her partner were published. The images show director Tim Burton in an apparent embrace with a mystery woman following a cinema date at the end of September.
The 55-year-old, who has been in a long term relationship with Bonham Carter for 12 years, was caught on camera as they returned to their car after watching cult film The Wicker Man. While Tim and his actress partner are known for their unconventional relationship – they live in neighbouring London houses – they are believed to be very much together.
The couple were last seen together in public in March of this year when they attended an event with their children Billy and Nell, just days after they went to a Save The Children fundraiser together looking very much still a couple.
In the images of Tim’s evening out with the mystery woman, first published on the New York Post, the Edward Scissorhands director is dressed down in jeans and a jacket as he follows the blonde, who looks younger than him, into the cinema.
Tim is instantly recognisable in the images due to his famous mop of curly hair and facial hair.
As they leave the cinema, the pair appear to enjoy an embrace and what seems to be a kiss before they get into the same car together.
A source told the MailOnline: ‘They stopped in an alley to kiss before making their way back to her car together.’
Tim fell for Helena when she was one of the hairier cast members in his remake of Planet Of The Apes and since then he has said he found her ‘most attractive’ when she was in character as Ari.
Yesterday it didn’t even occur to me that Tim and Helena might be taking a break. Huh. Now I have to think about that. That’s one of the good things about being in an “unconventional” relationship: no one notices when you and your partner haven’t stepped out together in six months. Helena has been photographed with her kids over the summer, but Tim hasn’t been seen that much. Now I do wonder if they are maybe “taking a break”. Or maybe Helena thought they were still together and Tim thought he would make out with a random blonde. God knows.
