Delusional Todd Chrisley Thinks He Will Get Out Of His Tax Evasion Charges

Chrisley Knows Best stars Todd Chrisley and his wife Julie Chrisley turned themselves in to authorities after the federal government indicted the couple on 12 counts of tax evasion, wire fraud, and other financial crimes, but the reality stars say they are innocent and have pleaded not guilty in court. The couple believes that the truth will eventually come out, and they will be exonerated. But, an insider says the couple is “delusional.”

“Todd truly believes that he is going to get out of all of these charges and walk away with a slap on the wrist,” an insider told Radar Online. “He has convinced his children that this is the case, and his wife too.”

The source added that Todd and Julie believe that the case will be thrown out of court once they prove that the guilty party is, in fact, a former business associate.

Just before the indictment, Todd took to Instagram to let fans know the charges were coming. He also explained that a former employee stole from them and then he created phony documents, forged signatures, and threatened other employees with violence if they tried to report his theft.

Todd says that they fired the employee and took him to court, but that didn’t put an end to the problem. Instead, it had just started. The 50-year-old says that the former employee wanted revenge, so he took his phony documents to the US Attorney’s office and accused the Chrisleys of various financial crimes.

However, when Todd and Julie gave their side of the story, the US Attorney’s office realized “it was all a bunch of nonsense” and dropped their investigation. But later, the former employee managed to persuade other investigators to not only reopen the case but give him immunity from prosecution.

Todd and Julie’s children Chase and Savannah have shown their support for their parents on social media, but Todd’s estranged daughter Lindsie is cooperating with prosecutors. She also claims that her dad and brother asked her to lie, and when she refused they threatened to release a sex tape involving her.

Todd has denied his daughter’s claims, and his attorney promised that all crimes committed against the couple will be investigated.

Despite Todd and Julie’s claims of innocence, they have a long fight ahead of them that could last years. And, when it’s all over, there is no guarantee they won’t end up in prison, just like Martha Stewart.

The couple could be facing years behind bars, but it didn’t have to be this way says tax attorney Dawn Della. She says the IRS could have handled the tax situation, and it didn’t have to go to court. But, when the IRS revenue officer couldn’t collect the tax debt and found “suspicious activity,” it moved to criminal prosecution, which is a very serious case.
