AFL news 2021: Carlton Marc Murphy wife Jessie, married, baby, son Max, girl

A bumper 2021 for Carlton veteran Marc Murphy is set to get even busier.

The 33-year-old is likely to become just the sixth Blues player to break the 300-game barrier in what could be his final season in the AFL.

And he’ll have a new fan waiting for him when he finally does decide to hang up the boots after he and wife Jessie announced they’re expecting the arrival of their second child.

Already parents to three-year-old son, Max, the Murphys can’t wait to welcome a daughter to their burgeoning brood.

“Can’t wait to meet our little girl,” Marc wrote in an Instagram post on Monday night.

“We can’t wait to meet you baby girl,” added Jessie on her page.

The post received congratulations from the likes of Bec Judd, Nadia Bartel, Megan Gale, Julie Neale, Alex Pendlebury, Elyse Knowles, Rebecca Harding and Kate Waterhouse.

The couple married in 2016 before welcoming Max in January, 2018.

Marc, who begins the season with 285 games under his belt and the hopes of playing finals, credited his son with changing his perspective on footy.

“Certainly having Max, I don’t think about football as much,’’ the doting dad told the Herald Sun.

“You think about the game and (then) he forces you to think about other things. If you don’t give him the proper attention, he’ll throw a football in your face.”

Jessie, who is a beauty and fashion blogger, told the Herald Sun last year they wanted to expand their family.

“I’d hate for him to be an only child,’’ Murphy said.

“Marc and I both have other siblings. But we’ll space them out.

“Get used to having one first, master that and then move on.”
